Purpose
To recognize an individual or group that has provided exceptional volunteer service or support to a library community.
This award is intended for someone other than a library employee, board member, or trustee who has provided support for Kentucky public libraries.
Criteria:
● Nominees must have made substantial contributions such as (but not limited to):
○ Sustained support and volunteerism
○ Active and innovative leadership or imaginative activities
○ Ability to increase community awareness of the library and its mission, vision, and core values
○ Fiscal support or gifts (physical buildings, special projects, collections, etc.)
● The nominee must not be gainfully employed in a library.
● The nominee must be a library supporter, but does not necessarily need to be a member of the Kentucky Public Library Association (KPLA).
Rules:
● Nominations may be made by anyone employed in a library.
● Nominations should be concise and address the above criteria, including no more than two pages of narrative and up to three pages of supportive material (newspaper articles, photos, etc.).
● The information and the quality of the application shall be the sole basis of selection. Any application not meeting the above criteria will be disqualified.
● The KPLA Awards Committee will make the selection based on the above criteria.
● The KPLA Awards Committee may choose to make no award in any given year if the quality of the nominations is not determined to be satisfactory.
