The Kentucky Public Library Standards were introduced in 2002. At that time, Kentucky Public Library Association President Judith Burdine made a commitment during her term to develop a
set of standards that would encourage Kentucky’s libraries to attain a level field of service across the Commonwealth and to identify best practices in libraries. President Burdine envisioned voluntary participation, varied service levels, and ease of use. More Standards History can be found here.
